The Challenge
It’s the Hacker Republic out there.
Millions of law-abiding executives, investigative journalists, elected officials, family offices, wealthy individuals - and their close associates - are exposed to targeted spying, identity theft, financial fraud, blackmail, manipulation, ransomware, and more. This is an emergency for both their personal freedom, and for the protection of our democracies.
Most of these cybercrimes are undiscovered for years, if ever. When discovered, you don’t read much about it, as both victim and attacker gain from keeping it unreported. Yet, according to recent polls, cybersecurity is the 1st and 2nd greatest concern for family offices and for high net-worth individuals.
It’s quite a paradox. The wealthier or more influential they get, the larger their cybersecurity problem becomes! There is nothing money can buy. They just have to live with it, as a natural phenomenon, like rain or lightning.
Sure, ordinary citizens can nowadays protect at least their private digital life, by properly using and configuring the latest iPhone with secure apps, like Signal or Threema. Yet, apps can never be more secure than the device they run on, while even the best devices are hackable by adversaries determined to spend a relatively small amount.
